This outline is a general guideline, as individual needs and interests may vary from it slightly. The children are supervised at all times to best monitor their safety. Minimal scheduled times are included to allow flexibility for the children’s needs, and to allow for spontaneous activities.

The daily outline is carefully designed in accordance with the New Brunswick Curriculum Framework to develop trusting, respectful and supportive relationships with educators and children and provide:

o   Transition times from one activity to the next.

o   Alternating periods of active and quiet play.

o   A balance of gross motor and fine motor activities.

o   A balance of child-initiated and adult-directed activities.

o   Choices of small group and individual activities.

o   Indoor and outdoor play (weather permitting).

We are trained in and follow the New Brunswick Curriculum Framework for Early Learning and Child Care, which emphasizes the following goals:

o   Well-Being

o   Play and Playfulness

o   Communication and Literacies

o   Diversity and Social Responsibility

We embrace the vision of the curriculum; “that all children will grow to their fullest potential with dignity, a sense of self-worth, and a zest for living and learning.”

We offer open ended invitations to play and create, and freedom to allow the children to lead their learning. Moments are captured on camera and posted on our walls, along with creations and learning stories to document and recognize the work of the children.

The value of the child and the children’s best interest is at the heart of all we do, and we continually strive to further our own training through continued workshops to ensure we are offering our best.

For more information on the New Brunswick Curriculum Frame for Early Learning and Child Care, visit http://www.eccenb sepenb.com/curriculum_elcc.

Please note that children will be encouraged to take bathroom breaks more than the schedule dictates throughout the day, and as well diapers will be checked regularly.

With the exception of infants who nap on demand, children who nap are encouraged to nap between 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm. For most children, a nap helps to rejuvenate their mind and body. For children who do not nap, quiet time is encouraged and quiet activities will be provided for them.

Preschool Curriculum

We strive to provide an experience that will allow children to reach their full potential in their individuality. Children can take part in curriculum as soon as they start showing signs of readiness. The curriculum will be modified to each child’s learning stage.

Curriculum opportunities consist of;

  • Circle Time and Yoga

  • Language and Literacy

  • Math and Numbers

  • Formations

  • Science

  • Motor Skills

  • Sensory

  • Music and Movement

  • Read Aloud

  • Creative Expressions

During the school year, days are themed with activities coordinating around a weekly theme. As we see different interests, passions and strengths in the children, the days will be modified to grow each individual’s strengths, and the themes changed to mirror the children’s interests. (Ie: Star Wars week)

Successes in small achievements are celebrated! This helps build confidence in young learners.

Each week has literary opportunities to encourage our emergent readers, as well as focus on formations in many different avenues for different learning types.

Curriculum is sent out at the beginning of every week so you are aware of what’s going on in your child’s day.

School aged children can promote their learning outside the formal school curriculum through hands on STEM activities, and by working side by side with younger children promoting empathy. This also helps our future leaders to be able to relate to everyone, not only direct peer groups. Dramatic play, collaborative games, art and music are just an example of ways that school aged children can explore new interests in our home as well.

All children will be provided with opportunities to be physically active, and be able to develop trusting and supportive relationships with staff and peers alike.

The children will take part in community walks through our neighborhood; however no vehicle transportation will take place. No additional fees are required for these outings.

Celebrations

We love to celebrate! Here are a few examples of events we will be celebrating:

Birthdays: On your child’s birthday, the day is theirs! If you bring decorations the day before we will be sure to have them up to make their day even more special. If you would like to bring a special treat, please let us know in advance to clear with the other parents and make sure there are no allergies that will be affected.

Holidays: We will celebrate Earth Day, Christmas, New Year’s, Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, Easter, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Grandparent’s Day, Canada Day, New Brunswick Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving Day, Cinco de Mayo, and Remembrance Day.

If your child celebrates a holiday that is not listed, we would love to learn about it and celebrate it too!

Graduation: We will be holding a graduation in June for each child going to kindergarten the following September.
