Our home is equipped with a first aid kit for minor injuries.

All medications must be in the original container with the original label, have a child protective cap and be identified with the dosage and the name of the child for whom the medication is intended.
In addition, prescribed medication must have; the name of the physician, instructions and the time period of use. It can be refrigerated if necessary.
Other medications such as pain reliever or cough syrup will only be given with parents’ consent and also must be in original container. Medication will not be administered unless directed by parents that day.
For each new medication, either over the counter or prescribed, a parent is required to fill out a Child Day Care Facilities Administration of Medication Record.

Forest Park Childcare meets the health and safety licensing standards set forth by the New Brunswick Department of Education and Early Childhood Development, Fire Marshall’s office and Health Protection Branch.
Hand washing significantly reduces the transmission of infections. Children will be asked to wash their hands immediately upon arrival, as well as periodically throughout the day such as;
-
Before and after meals
-
After coughing, sneezing or blowing nose
-
After using washroom
-
After playing with shared toys
-
After handling animals
-
When taking medication
-
After playing outside
New Brunswick Department of Education and Early Childhood Development require that we have a copy of your child’s immunization records. If your child has not been immunized or a copy of the record is not available, FCS will allow parents to sign a waiver. This waiver states that parents must keep their child out of day care when a communicable disease is in its contagious stage.
If your child is sick, please exclude them from the day care for the welfare of your own child, and of the other children attending. If your child is too sick to play outside or to participate fully in the regular program, then he/she is too sick to attend day care. A child who has had vomiting or diarrhea is to be kept home until symptom free for a minimum of 24 hours.
If your child will not be attending due to a communicable disease, please call or text us the morning of or night before and let us know the symptoms as we are required to record this in case of other cases breaking out.
For some illnesses, there is a required time period that your child cannot attend daycare. (Please see New Brunswick Child Daycare Facility Exclusion Reference Guide.) These rules have been developed by health care professionals across Canada to make sure your child is fully recovered and to prevent the spread of infection to other children. If your child is diagnosed with any of these illnesses, you must follow the exclusion guidelines and complete the Return after Exclusion Form when returning.
If a child has or may be affected by a disease that is required to be reported under the Public Health Act, the Minister and Health Protection Branch will be contacted. At such time, a Public Health Inspector will be sent out for minimizing the spread of the illness. They will conduct an investigation and will be able to answer any questions or concerns. Although it has never happened before, closure of Forest Park Childcare for a small period of time may result. In addition, enhanced cleaning and sanitizing as well as contact tracing may be carried out.
In all cases of reportable illnesses, staff and parents will be notified by a posted Notice to Parents of Children in Childcare form in the entry to our home. Information sheets will be made available to parents upon request.
